About the Boston LGBT Film Festival
2009 Boston LGBT Film Festival May 6 – 17: Celebrating History ~ Embracing Change
New Name, Additional Venues, Expanded Events as
Festival Marks 25 Years of Bringing Great LGBT Cinema to Boston
The Boston LGBT Film Festival (formerly the Boston Gay & Lesbian Film & Video Festival) celebrates its 25th anniversary this May with some exciting changes.
Along with the new name, we are adding two additional venues. We’re not leaving our long-time home at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, but we will also have screenings this year at the Brattle Theatre in Harvard Square, Cambridge, and at Fenway Health's new space.
This year's festival boasts many exciting film programs. Shamim Sarif (The World Unseen) returns this year with her new romantic comedy I Can’t Think Straight. Festival favorite Casper Andreas (Slutty Summer, A Four Letter Word) is also back with his new film Between Love and Goodbye. We’re showcasing Memphis filmmaker Morgan Jon Fox’s beautiful chronicle of Facebook-era queer adolescence, OMG/HaHaHa. And don’t miss filmmaker and queer film historian Jenni Olson’s new short film 575 Castro Street, an evocative look at Harvey Milk’s San Franciso camera shop, screening before a special showing of the 1984 documentary The Times of Harvey Milk.
Also new this year are panels, events, and a showcase of local work, to allow you to interact with visiting and local filmmakers, as well as other filmgoers and community members.
So set aside May 6th to the 17th to celebrate great queer film!
